The School of Prayer

Coming 2023
9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Family Worship Center Church has partnered with Dr. David Ireland and Christ Church as a host site of The School of Prayer. The goal of The School of Prayer is to equip Christ followers around the world in areas of prayer through Biblical instruction and practical experience.

The School of Prayer is a two-day event that takes place on two Saturdays in the month of May.  Each session includes 4 hours of instruction, along with practical hands on prayer exercises that enable you to put into action what you have learned. The School of prayer will equip you and help you to strengthen your relationship with God and take your prayer life to a new level.

Prayer Focus 2023

We Are Family...Love That Binds

Please join us as we pray daily for the needs of people, our government and for God's power to manifest in a great way.
Key Scripture:
Colossians 3:14 (ESV) – And above all these, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Memory Scripture
1 Corinthians 13:1-8 (ESV) -
1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

Additional Scriptures
Psalm 133:1 (KJV) – Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.
Matthew 18:19 (KJV) – Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
John 15:12 (ESV) – This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Definitions
Bind - To tie together or confine with a cord, or anything that is flexible; to fasten as with a band, fillet or ligature. To oblige by a promise, vow, stipulation, covenant, law, duty or any other moral tie; to engage. (KJV Dict.)
Harmony – is being able to promote love and unity through the bond of peace for the sake of the Body of Christ and Christ Himself.

Why Fast?
  • Fasting was designed by God, not to change Him, but rather to change us!
  • Fasting doesn’t show God that you are good or deserving.  Only Jesus does that for us.
  • Fasting brings us into an experience where our hearts are more open to what the Lord wants to show us for our individual lives.
  • Only focusing on the food element of fasting keeps you from experiencing the richness that’s available to you.  This keeps you attending to your flesh rather than to your spirit that connects with the Spirit of God.
  • Fasting is a spiritual discipline where followers of Jesus Christ can draw nearer to God and focus more of their attention on Him and His ways.
  • In today’s busy world, it’s like pushing the pause button on a hectic life and centering more on the rest that Jesus offers.  This more focused and quiet time allows you to hear the still small voice of Holy Spirit as He reveals God’s truth and direction for your life.

Suggested Strategies:
  • Pray for Holy Spirit to empower you to focus on renewing your mind and transforming into who God created you to be. (Romans 12:1-2)
  • Pray for God to speak to you each day as you read His Word. (Jeremiah 33:3)
  • Pray for perseverance to stick to and complete the fast. Pray that you won’t give up so that you might reap a blessing.  (Galatians 6:9)
  • Spend more time in worship, prayer, reading and meditating on the Word. Take time to be still in the Lord’s presence.  (Jeremiah 29:13)
  • Don’t beat yourself up and quit when you eat the wrong things. Continue the fast. Remember, God’s grace is sufficient and helps in our times of weakness.
  • (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  • Pray daily for all your family members and salvation for those who don’t have a relationship with the Lord YET!  (Mark 11:24)
  • Replace every negative thought or word with the promises and truth of God.
  • (Jeremiah 1:12)
  • Connect with a prayer partner and pray daily with them.  Two are better than one.  There will be someone to encourage you and pick you up when and if you fall.  (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
